6km Short: Ruakuri
This adventure starts inside the Ruakuri Caves and takes you up the spiral staircase into Ruakuri Reserve. In the reserve, you will run underneath towering limestone formations, over bridges and under short tunnels.
You exit via the easy and flat Waitomo Trail to the finish line at the Waitomo Glowworm Visitors Centre.

Catch the free shuttle bus from the Waitomo Domain, departing from 9:45 am onwards. Last bus at 1:00 pm. Registered runners and walkers only on the buses.
There is one aid station on this trail, 2.5kms from the start at Ruakuri.
There are toilets at the registration venue at the race start and finish lines. They are located at Waitomo Domain (the parking/bus pickup area), Mangapohue Natural Tunnel, Stubb’s Farm and Ruakuri Cave.
The best place to see and support your runner or walker is at the Waitomo Glowworm Cave Visitor Centre which is also where the finish line is.
Please be aware that spectators are not permitted on the runners’ shuttle buses.
Prizegiving will be at approximately 5:00 pm at the Waitomo Homestead.
